The Red Deer Rut – Under the Spell of the Wild Forests
Amid the early autumn mist, the forest’s powerful voice rises — the red deer rut. For me, as a nature photographer, it is the absolute highlight of the year. To stand here, in the heart of the wilderness, as a silent observer among majestic stags is an incredible privilege. A fine balance that calls for unseen closeness — not noticed, yet so near that the animals’ essence can be captured in my images.
It is a world that remains hidden from most people. Yet with every click of the camera, a window opens onto this wild, primal nature. Sometimes hours pass — even days — without anything happening.
But then — a moment when the stag proudly raises his antlers and the air trembles with his calls — it is as if time stands still.
That feeling — capturing this moment — is beyond words. Much as I would like everyone to experience this spectacle, I know that this world can only be accessible to a few. The animals, the natural world — they demand respect. Yet through my lens, I share this wondrous treasure that belongs to all of us: a world full of magic, hidden from most eyes.

“Nature photography isn’t a hunt for images to me — it is the quiet act of staying present in a world that only reveals itself when you are willing to become unseen.”
– Sebastian Meisinger, Isarlog
